In our recent write-up, we discussed the underlying matter that made the clamshell heat press machine a better choice among the two.
Now it is time to even the playing field and allow for a rebuttal of the swing-away model.
What does it have in store for us and why would anyone want to use it?
We are going to be listing down the top five reasons why a swing-away machine is the most advantageous model of the two!
1) Absolute Control Over The Materials
While the top plate of the clamshell machine can sometimes get under your nose while it is at work, this model allows you to add and opt out materials on the go as the swing is not placed directly on the table.
This means that even though this type of heat press takes up more space, it leaves more room for the user to the additional adjustments once the entire process is taking place!
2) Bigger Size Allows For The Heat Platen To Be Even!
One would think that it would be more beneficiary for the size to be smaller as things would be much easier to control but that is simply not the case.
Here is why:
The platen is placed face-down onto the machine, allowing both the top and bottom layer to be evenly affected by the temperature produced by the heat press!
3) Lifetime Warranty On The Platen And A THREE Year Guarantee On The Electronics!
While some might get sad as they realize that the swing models tend to be a tad bit more expensive than the clamshell ones, they quickly change their minds as they take a look at the warranties.
Here is the thing:
The materials used in manufacturing the swing-away model are more expensive but they are also more durable which gives a massive boost in terms of quality and of course, warranty.
4) An Interface Outside The Fray
Even though the sleek interface of the clamshell heat press never failed to disappoint, it did annoy me as I had to risk burns as I had to come really close to the machine itself to change the settings.
The spring-away model takes things from a much wider perspective and allows the user to control things from afar:
I appreciated it and my body wasn’t complaining either!
5) Different Types Of Materials Can Be Used!
We mentioned the small amount of space a clamshell heat press takes up but that doesn’t come without some obvious drawbacks.
The most prominent one being the thickness of the materials used.
You see, the swing-away model lets you adjust things to a level which allows you to play with materials that are really thick, some of them up to 3 centimeters (1”)!
Now that we have gone through both models, we can objectively determine the best one depending on our situation and the type of materials to be used on our apparel.
It is important to note that we don’t think that one design completely trumps out the other, it’s more that they both have unique characteristics that make them the top choice for certain types of endeavors!
