To name all the different features in different types of heat press machines would take us more than a century.
With different types come different features as special methods are utilized to print logos or text on your apparel.
We have the direct-to-garment method, heat printing, sublimation…
Instead, we can focus on different aspects of the heat press machine that determine their features, some of them more important than the others.
The three most valuable elements of literally EVERY heat press machine are:
-A digital timer
Let’s take a look at each and every of these individually, shall we?
1) A Digital Timer
We are living in the 21 century and it’s a damn shame that timers aren’t part of every heat press machine out there.
There is nothing more disappointing then having to deal with a machine that cannot offer you the tools necessary in order to make the entire process much easier.
When looking for a heat press machine, a feature that must not be overlooked would have to be a timer with an integrated alarm built in and a clock that shows how long it has been since the process started.
Also, as an additional layer of professionalism, one should be able to see an estimate of how long it will take and an estimate of the entire screening time of the project.
That is something that I hope is going to be utilized as it offers massive potential for brandability!
2) Heat Control
Understandably, you want your logo to stick on the product but you surely don’t want it to be blurry or hard to read.
Imagine if you were new to the craft and your heat press machine didn’t feature a heat control terminal, what could possibly go wrong?
Firstly, temperature is always a delicate topic as even a few degrees can mean the difference between a charred shirt and a masterpiece.
Taking into consideration the above-mentioned stipulation, one would really have to be stubborn to opt for a model that doesn’t give the optimal temperature control within the machine!
To utilize this aspect of the heat press to the absolute, one would better opt for a model with an evenly-space heating element.
Why is that so important?
Because it ensures that the heat will a) be consistent and b) evenly distributed throughout the entire plate.
3) Pressure Control
As important as temperature control, it ensures that your logo ‘sticks’ the right way, without any sort of misalignments down the road.
A heat press machine should always have a pressure reading option, right next to the digital timer that would showcase the amount of pressure being given out, the average pressure overall and the optimal pressure for the type of apparel that you are handling.
While all three aspects are very important to have in a heat press machine, I would say that pressure is the most important one as leaving it up to the Gods can ruin entire production lines, especially if they are automatic!
